John Walden Partnership
All Farmers and Landowners who are currently Members of the Go Green Adventure Camping Association (GGAC-A) are automatically Members of the John Walden Partnership (JWP).
JWP was formed in in 2012 as a Forum for the exchange of ideas, information, promoting business, buying and selling, with the prime objective of sharing profits (when they are made!) and goodwill.
A brief summary of the life of John Walden.
John Walden was born in the early 1930's and grew up in Trowbridge, Wiltshire during WW2. Being wartime, his schooldays were disrupted, but he did benefit from boarding at Dauntsey's School, near Devizes, Wiltshire. His parents were both from farming stock and from an early age, John mixed with farming folk.
After Dauntsey's, John spent a year studying agriculture at Lackham School of Agriculture, Lacock, Wiltshire, and, up until then, he intended to make farming his career. At this stage John had an urge to travel and he took advantage of a £10 passage to Canada in 1951. He worked on several farms both in Ontario and then in Alberta where he helped with the harvest, working with a super pair of Percheron Horses.
On his return from Canada and the USA he settled down in the family food business in Trowbridge. Initially he pioneered the production and processing of Broiler Chicken which he had studied in the USA, followed by freezing pies and pastry products and then pioneering and establishing a Nationwide Refrigerated Transport business. Latterly he developed frozen meals for the elderly, which are now marketed as Wiltshire Farm Foods (advertised by Ronnie Corbett!)
Following early retirement from the food industry, John developed from scratch, the International campsite, Blackland Lakes, at Calne in Wiltshire.
John's connections with farming and his experience of setting up and running a campsite prompted the idea for Go Green Adventure camping which he founded in 2011.
Most recently John has written about these and many of his other life adventures in his autobiography 'Memoirs of a Moonraker', a life in and out of business.
